Note from AVM Support - today 12th August 2009:
On failure of bundled Fritz!DSL software failure to install successfully on Vista and Windows 7:
"Thank you very much for your enquiry.
Please note that the English FRITZ!DSL software cannot be installed on Windows Vista.
Unfortuantely, I am unable to predict when the English FRITZ!DSL software version for Windows Vista will actually be released. I can only beg for your patience and ask you to occaisionally check our website at http://webgw.avm.de:8080/download/UpdateNews_en.jsp?lang=en that announces all update releases. Currently, only the German FRITZ!DSL version 02.04.02
(ftp://ftp.avm.de/fritz.box/fritzdsl/deutsch/fritzdsl_2_-
04_02.exe) can be installed under Windows Vista x32.
Please note that the FRITZ!DSL software is not really required for the operation of the FRITZ!Box."
---- They are right in that it's not required but the provision of this software was part of my buying decision. It DOES work if "Run as Administrator" but since it needs to start on system boot - it's not able to run automatically. Hardly a good way to protect PCs...
